Preparing for Kentucky Bluegrass Regionals

by David Still

With the 1999 Kentucky Bluegrass Regionals only one month away, there was a strong showing of shooters for Saturday's match. Nine shooters participated in the 56 shot course with surprising results.

Ken Hughes won the match with a score of 54 of 56 (96.4%). Doug Vinson surprisingly pulled ahead of the group to capturing First Place in the Precharged Class with a score of 53 of 56 (94.6%). Doug has acquired much knowledge and skill since December 1998 when he was scoring 20.4% with his FWB 124. After acquiring his Pro-Target, Doug jumped his shooting percentage to 80%. Now he is definitely comfortable with his new Pro-Target, shooting in the mid 90's percentile.

Rod Bradley and George Gardner took Second and Third Places in the Precharged Class with scores of 48 of 56 (88.7%) and 47 of 56 (83.9%) respectively. Jeff Drake scored an impressive 46 of 56 (82.1%) sporting his new Pro-Target.

Joel Hansel secured First Place in the Spring Piston Class with a score of 37 of 56 (66.1%).  Bennie Davis closelylJoel trailed to capture Second Place with a score of 34 of 56 (60.7%).

Marietta , GA  August 14, 1999

Walt Roller attended Saturday's Airgunning Atlanta match, but only as a spectator. In late July, Walt was in an automobile accident placing him in the hospital with a broken sternum.

Walt stated that he will be home recuperating for two months and possibly be return to shooting in four to six months.  In the meanwhile, Airgunning Atlanta will retained Walt as a Shooting Team coach.

Get well soon Walt.
