Results from "Spring Gun Only"
Match
by George Gardner
July's Airgunning Atlanta
match temporarily retired the Precharged guns in favor of a
"Spring Gun Only" match. Walt Roller was the
winner with a score of 39 out of 44 using his TX-200. Ken Hughes
paired with George Gardner using George's Custom 77 and took Second
Place with a score of 34 out of 44 shoots.
George took Third Place with a score of 33 out of 44 targets. It is
tough to be beaten with you own gun.
Doug Vinson captured Forth Place
and Bennie Davis came in Fifth. All had a very good time and the
weather was excellent. Next month we will be back to our normal guns
and the course will be expanded to use more lanes; approximately a 60
shot match.
New Flash. Walt Roller has a new toy. This one causes his butt to
get sore. A bicycle for Walt? For other in the club that own and
ride bicycles there is a new trail in Cobb county that you should
check out. It is called the Silver Comet Trail.
To all, shoot well.. See you in August.

2000 World Field
Target Match
Covington , GA July 10, 1999
Airgunning Atlanta received a call from
Tom Ittery from Hernando, Mississippi, stating that his club, MSTS,
would allow Airgunning Atlanta the opportunity to host the 2000 World
Field Target Match at Atlanta's Wolf Creek Olympic Shooting Complex.
After polling a couple Airgunning Atlanta club members, it is the consensus
that this event is of a size that Airgunning Atlanta membership feels
will be overwhelming with an estimated 120+ shooters in attendance.
Comparing the World Field Target Match to the recent 1999 Georgia
Southern Regional Match with 36 shooters provides Airgunning Atlanta
with a measurement of the intense coordinated effort that will be
required if Airgunning Atlanta were to host the World Championship
match in year 2000.
Airgunning Atlanta has received a green light from the Wolf Creek Olympic
Shooting Complex to utilize their Olympic grade 3-D Archery course to
accommodate the 2000 World Field Target Match. It just seems
that we have not recovered from the May 1999 Georgia Southern Regional
Match and cannot see exerting the same amount of effort all over again
on an event four times larger and not even held at our own match
location.
