AA Field Target Practice Match

Match Results, August 25, 2001

Welcoming Olympic Hopeful

by David Still

Saturday was another beautiful day for field target match. Only four competitors arrived since the course is officially closed due to most of the targets are being prepared for the 2001 Nationals.

Bennie Davis and mark Scheu tied for match winners using their spring-piston airguns. Bennie stated that he shot his best scores ever shooting 37 of 40 (92.5%).  He was tied by Mark using his HW-97.

Saturday's match was the first time J.P. O'Connor had shot a field target. J.P., a 10-meter Olympic coach and competitor, is trying his hand at competing in the 2001 US Field Target National Championship in October.  He is using David Still's Pro-Target, the same rifle David used to be awarded First Place Team trophy at the 1999 Cajon Spring Nationals. Since J.P. does not have much time to practice, he is allowing David to calibrate the Pro-Target and J.P. will shoot when he can.
